Amber Fort, also known as Amer Fort, is a magnificent fort located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. The fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist destination in India. One of the highlights of visiting Amber Fort is the Light and Sound Show that takes place in the evening. The Light and Sound Show at Amber Fort is a fascinating audio-visual experience that showcases the history and heritage of the fort. The show is held every evening, usually starting after sunset, and lasts for about an hour. The show is conducted in both English and Hindi, making it accessible to a wider audience. Amer Palace is great example of Rajput architecture. Some of its buildings and work have influence of Mughal architecture. Constructed of red sandstone and marble, the attractive, opulent palace is laid out on four levels, each with a courtyard. It consists of the Diwan-e-Aam, or "Hall of Public Audience", the Diwan-e-Khas, or "Hall of Private Audience", the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas where a cool climate is artificially created by winds that blow over a water cascade within the palace.

Amer, or Amber, derives its name from the Ambikeshwar Temple, built atop the Cheel ka Teela. Ambikashwara is a local name for the god Shiva. However, local folklore suggests that the fort derives its name from Amba, the Mother Goddess Durga. He state of Jaipur was earlier known as Amber or Dhundhar and was controlled by Meena chiefs of five different tribes who were under suzerainty of the Bargurjar Rajput Raja of Deoti. Later a Kachhwaha prince Dulha Rai destroyed the sovereignty of Meenas and also defeated Bargurjars of Deoli and took Dhundhar fully under Kachwaha rule.

During the show, the fort is illuminated with colorful lights, and the walls of the fort are brought to life with a series of stories and legends. The show narrates the history of the fort, the Rajput rulers who lived there, and the battles fought to protect the fort. The narration is accompanied by traditional Rajasthani music, which adds to the overall experience. Many visitors who have attended the Light and Sound Show at Amber Fort have described it as a mesmerizing experience that transports them back in time. The show is a must-see for anyone interested in the history and culture of Rajasthan. This is one of the top things to do in Jaipur at night.
